Lumen Photon Therapy  (mobile service is available)

What is Lumen Photon Therapy?

It is a device that emits visible and infrared light that has therapeutic benefits to living tissues and organisms on a cellular level. This device offers 7 specific settings to promote different levels of tissue healing and generation, plus one additional level that deals directly with dental issues. It has been used to help with ectodermal tissue (skin, nerves, brain, eyes and ears), endodermal tissue (GI tract, liver, and pancreas), mesodermal tissue (bones, joints, muscles and vessels), hormonal functions and reproductive organs, inside of mouth (gums and teeth) and pain anywhere.

What does Photon Therapy actually do?

Visible red light causes nitric oxide to be released from hemoglobin, the protein molecule that transports oxygen to the tissue. Nitric oxide plays a role in intracellular signaling, the process that sets in motion vasodilation, immune response and neurotransmission.

Light therapy has been shown to increase vascularity by increasing the formation of new capillaries, which are additional blood vessels that replace damaged ones. New capillaries accelerate the healing process by supplying additional oxygen and nutrients needed for healing.

It stimulates the production of collagen, the essential protein needed to repair and replace damaged tissue. It is the substance that holds cells together with a high degree of elasticity. Increasing collagen production will decrease scar tissue at an injured site.

It stimulates the release of adenosine triphosphate (ADP), the major carrier of energy to all cells. Increases in ATP allow cells to readily accept nutrients and to expel waste products faster by increasing the energy level in the cell.

It increases lymphatic system activity. Edema, which is swelling or the natural splinting process of the body, has two basic components. The first is a liquid part that can be evacuated by the blood system. The second is composed of the proteins which have to be evacuated by the lymphatic system. Research has shown that lymph vessel diameter and the flow of the lymph system can be doubled with the use of light therapy. The venous diameter and the arterial diameters can also be increased. This means that both parts of edema can be evacuated at a much faster rate to relieve swelling.

Increase RNA and DNA synthesis, helping damaged cells to be replaced more promptly.

Reduce the excitability of nerve tissue. The photons of light energy enter the body as negative ions, requiring the body to send positive ions, calcium among others, to flow to the area being treated. These ions assist in regulating the nerves and relieving pain.

Stimulate fibroblastic activity which aids in the repair process. Fibroblasts are present in connective tissue and are capable of forming collagen fibers.

Increase phagocytosis, which is the process of scavenging for and ingesting dead or degenerated cells by the phagocyte cells. Healing depends upon the destruction of infection and cellular clean-up.

Induce a thermal-like effect in the tissue. The light raises the temperature of the cells although there is minimal heat produced from the diodes themselves.

Stimulate tissue granulation and connective tissue projections, which are a part of the healing process of wounds. Stimulate acetylcholine release, causing cardiac inhibition, vasodilation, gastrointestinal peristalsis, and other parasympathetic effects.

How long are the sessions?

The lumen applicators are applied to the body and run for 30 minutes.

What do I wear?

You will be fully dressed and are encouraged to wear comfortable loose fitting clothes. Please leave all jewellery at home and any other accessories.

Will I feel anything?

The Lumen is painless and non-invasive. You may experience a feeling of warmth or tingling.

I was a little skeptical about trying the Lumen and Ondamed at first, but my chronic pain has reduced substantially and I’m confident that with further treatment, Lesley will be able to eliminate it altogether.

I have had years of shoulder pain so Lesley introduced me to photon lumen therapy and I’m amazed at how it is tackling this issue head-on.
